The Heretaunga Intermediate Board of Trustees invites applications from whānau who wish to enrol their tamariki at Heretaunga Intermediate School for 2026.
Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available on our school website.
It is greatly appreciated if the parents of students who live within the home zone complete the online provisional enrolment by Friday 12 September 2025. This assists the school to plan appropriately for next year.
To enrol your student, complete the online provisional enrolment form and digital citizenship agreement (attached below) and email the school office at office@hint.school.nz or drop off the additional documents to the school office during school office hours 8am - 3.30pm.
Additional documents required to accompany the provisional online enrolment are:
A signed copy of the Digital User Agreement Below
A copy of the student’s birth certificate, or a copy of their passport,
Proof of address showing the caregiver’s name, at which the student will live - Power bill, phone / internet bill
A copy of the student’s immunisation certificate.
ENROLMENT ZONE
To avoid overcrowding, or the likelihood of overcrowding, the Board of Heretaunga Intermediate has adopted an enrolment scheme that has been approved by the Secretary for Education. Under this scheme, students will be enrolled if they live within the home zone described below:
Starting south of Ngaruroro River on State Highway 2, south to Maraekakaho Road/Longlands Road roundabout.
East on Longlands Road to Railway Road South.
North on Railway Road to Tollemache Road.
West on Tollemache Road to Southland Road.
North on Southland Road (includes houses on both sides of the street) to Heretaunga Street West.
East on Heretaunga Street West to Nelson Street.
North on Nelson Street (includes houses on both sides of the street) to St Aubyn Street West.
East on St Aubyn Street West to the Railway Tracks.
North on the Railway Tracks to Elwood Road.
West on Elwood Road to Pakowhai Road
North on Pakowhai Road to just south of the Ngaruroro River then follow south of the river to Highway 2.

The enrolment of out-of-zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020. The enrolment scheme, which includes a precise description of the home zone, may be viewed at the bottom of this page.
The deadline for receipt of applications for out-of-zone places is also Friday 12th September 2025.
The board have determined that 50 out-of-zone students we will be able to take next year. If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required it will be held on Monday 6th October 2025. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.
Confirmation of the enrolment will be sent to the caregiver by email in due course.
